the 8th annual gingerbread house competition.

the husband + I’s most cherished holiday tradition is our gingerbread house competition! we started it while we were dating + have yet to skip a year. it’s the prep work of strategically planning the exterior of your house, shopping for the goodies, turning on christmas music, eating a piece of candy for every one you attach to your house, and THE COMPETITION! while the husband will tell you, I am no competition .. my day is coming! (I’ve “technically” only won once). I’m convinced my ideas are great, I just need to perfect my execution. decorating with icing + edibles is no cake walk …

after the baby went to asleep, we started working on our gingerbread houses. at 1:30AM, we were done! more than once, I was convinced I would fall asleep right there in the bowl of powdered sugar frosting. but I managed to stay awake + finish my house. AND get up with the baby at 7:00AM. #momlife. my gingerbread house (like I said “great idea, lackluster execution”) is inspired by joanna gaines + her white shiplap homes with black accents. the husband’s inspiration was, yet another, perfectly laid cereal roof and two gingerbread people engaged in a snowball fight. with the “C” losing (thanks husband!!!).

what’s your vote – left or right?
