every night, as part of jackson’s bedtime routine, we read a book he handpicks. he brings it to the rocking chair, where the husband + I read, and he takes off to a stool or the floor. these days, it’s rare he’ll sit in our lap as we read to him ..

once the husband + I came to terms with our baby growing up, we decided to make a change. instead of purchasing a new rocking chair for the new baby’s nursery, we decided to relocate jackson’s. after all, it’s a super comfy chair + he’s no longer using it. bonus: moving it sounded so much better than buying new (chairs are EXPENSIVE!).

with the empty corner in jackson’s room, we wanted to have a reading nook. a cozy area to wind down + read a book before bed. we quickly decided on this tan + navy tee pee. we filled it with cozy blankets, a pillow, a pre-lit tree, a hanging lightbulb, a faux succulent + his favorite books!

once in his pajamas, he runs straight for a book + into the tee pee. he pulls the light on and we read. not only does he clearly love his new reading corner, the husband + I love cuddling with our busy toddler again at the end of each day. instead of him cruising his room as we read, he snuggles up to us in his tent!

it hasn’t happened yet, but feels inevitable that the husband will someday find me curled up + sleeping in this cozy tee pee at some point. if I had to guess, it’ll be during the sleep deprived months of having a newborn again. I’m tired just thinking about it ..
