five years ago, we were standing on a picturesque beach in the dominican republic, promising forever + celebrating with thirty of our closest friends + family. it was such an intimate, breathtaking + incredible day. we made our wedding as personal as possible. the husband + I created all of the printed items for our wedding (welcome bags, invitations, programs, etc). for our ceremony, we had a local dominican minister officiate + a violinist play songs we selected. we had both of our parents speak, my grandpa read an irish blessing, and we wrote our own vows. I basically cried through the whole thing.

when I look back on this day, I am reminded of the six years that led us to this moment and the promise we made that day to build an incredible + extraordinary life together. we’re just getting started, but we’re definitely holding up that promise.

we got married at the hard rock punta cana. it’s a beautiful ocean-front resort with something for everyone, gelato shop included. I shared more about our stay for our wedding + our honeyversary (we went back to celebrate our 1st anniversary/honeymoon).

we hired a local photographer + videographer, HDC photo, to capture our day. if I can offer any bit of wedding advice, hire a videographer. I absolutely cherish this highlight video, and every year on our anniversary, we watch the full-length video that captured it all.

“may the road rise to meet you. may the wind always be at your back. may the sun shine warm upon your face. the rains fall soft upon your fields. and when eternity beckons at the end of life, may the grace of God hold you both in the palm of his hands and today may the spirit of love find a dwelling place in your hearts”

cheers to the blessed, beautiful + fun five years we’ve got to spend as husband + wife. I am so grateful to share + build this life with you. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for us. I know it’ll be so good.
