our little family headed west for the holidays! we were gone a total of ten days. (two of which were spent in the car, driving 8+ hours, with a baby + a dog). we got back home late on new year’s eve. as you can imagine, we were buried in laundry for days. before we could get completely unpacked + caught up, the baby got the flu. (*even more laundry). which the husband eventually caught, and then so did I. before we could recover from that, we passed around a sinus infection. basically, we’ve been quarantined in our house through the month of january.
who else’s household is catching all of the sickness going around? that’s the short version of why I’ve been MIA.
now, about our trip! growing up, colorado was a frequent destination for nearly allllll of my family’s vacations. (we have a lot of relatives out there). I absolutely love to visit! the last time the husband + I were there was 2013! (it was the last stop on our 16-day engagement/camping trip). we were overdue for a return. and really, what better way to spend baby’s first christmas?
christmas in colorado.
most of our trip was spent in comfy clothes, with family. we ate, we drank, we napped, we played every board game, and we enjoyed the gorgeous mountain scenery. we did make two day trips – to manitou springs + idaho springs. it’s just ironic they both have “springs” in their town’s name. the quaint towns we visited are surrounded by mountains + filled with the cutest local shops. it was just a bonus idaho springs has two breweries on it’s main street (tommyknocker + westbound & down). we visited both! but honestly, the highlight for me was seeing my little so, so happy on his first coin-operated kiddie ride. I mean look at that face ..
