on sunday, the husband + I made a last-second decision to take a road trip. only 100 miles east to the amana colonies. it’s typically our mother’s day destination, but why wait until may if we like it so much + it’s close? so we treated ourselves to a quick fall getaway. our plan was simple – wander around, enjoy the sights, eat scrumptious food, sip on local craft beer, and shop!
fall in the amana colonies.
if there were requirements for a perfect fall getaway, it’d include a fall-inspired local craft beer (like millstream brewery’s oktoberfest), scrumptious comfort food (like mac + cheese and smoked bratwurst from the amana meat shop), a quilted vest for when there is a chill in the air, a comfortable striped swing tee, and an abundance of colorful mums + trees changing into vibrant fall colors.
You two are always going on great midwest road trips! I went to the Amana colonies years ago with my parents but I’ve heard it is such a cute place for a day trip! Next time we are back in Iowa for a few day’s I should take a trip there!! Hope you are doing well and hope you had a great trip!
