the husband + I occasionally get blue apron meals. (where they send you three step-by-step recipes + all of the ingredients straight to your doorstep, like this). aside from convenience + variety from our dinner staples, I like it because it teaches me new cooking methods + tricks. in a fairly recent box, we received the ingredients for a salmon caesar salad. inside a small loaf of french bread was eventually going to be my salad’s croutons. genius. typically, if a recipe calls for croutons ..I’d buy croutons. but after the so-obvious, clearly genius loaf of bread into croutons revelation, I haven’t looked back.

if you have extra hamburger buns, french bread, or pretzel rolls laying around .. you’ll have croutons in no time. preheat the oven to 350°. just cut into bite sized pieces. throw on a baking sheet. drizzle with olive oil + spices of your choosing. (i’d say pepper + garlic salt). toss until well coated. place in oven for 10-15 minutes. (shuffle around halfway through). there you have it, homemade croutons!
