introducing baby parker llbychels

on march 17th at 9:29AM, we welcomed our newest addition – a sweet little baby boy, named parker louis.

this introduction is overdue. I have been in the BEST state of bliss, the kind only a cuddly newborn that is happiest in his mom’s arms can bring. with a heavy dose of you have a busy toddler that doesn’t always need you but when he does – HE DOES! six weeks have flown by in what seems like one. between family staying with us, a handful of visitors, hosting easter, and our toddler’s 2nd birthday – we’ve been constantly on the go! in six weeks our new baby has been to the zoo twice, the science center, 4 breweries, an iowa cubs baseball game, and traveled out of state once (to illinois). life does not stop, or even pause when you have a babe. (actually, I recall my maternity leave with jackson being much QUIETER + even relaxing. enjoy those first babies!). thankfully, parker is the best sport + sleeps through most of our adventures.

big brother jackson is a loud, excited about life two-year-old. he loves “brother parker” and gives him kisses every morning. but the husband + I stay close by when they’re together. I’d love to say confidently that my toddler knows what “gentle” means, and maybe he does, but he can’t be bothered with gentle OR quiet at this stage in his life. so, we monitor their interactions. for example: jackson is really into identifying body parts, so he’ll point at parker’s nose, ears, feet + eyes. well, turns out no one likes being poked in the eye .. not even newborns. I keep telling jackson they will soon have the best time playing together + be the best of friends. he has his doubts. only time will tell.
