it is a complete coincidence the husband + I’s new place is located perfectly between two local breweries + a winery. or is it?
our new neighborhood boasts so much excitement. especially now that the temperatures are heating up. there are people everywhere; riding their bikes on the trails, running around the lake, walking for their morning coffee. not to mention, visiting all of the local gems. I am eating it all up. (but until our bikes either get a tune up or replaced, I’ll be on foot).
last weekend, we decided to indulge a bit + took part in “sunday funday” at the winery down the street, jasper winery. we went for a wine tasting, stayed for a glass, and came home with two bottles. (*danger: there is a winery within walking distance).
local love: jasper winery.
the husband + I both opt for dryer wines, so we tasted the “best of” des moines flight. I was pleasantly surprised by each sip. I discovered I preferred the unoaked seyval blanc, could not get enough of their JW rosé, and was impressed + intrigued by their la hop (which is essentially their la crescent wine + beer. it’s magical. we’re talking sit on a patio, 75°, in a tank top, feet up perfect).
they also do a summer concert series on their lawn every thursday evening during the summer. you can bet where I’ll be ..
I could rattle on for days about this city I’ve called home for two years. it has all the midwest charm, big city necessities, and none of the traffic. toot toot. (that was me tooting des moines horn).
