we go to the farmer’s market each saturday (that we’re home), with the best of intentions: purchase locally grown, freshly picked produce. but, to be honest, I’m not sure we’ve bought anything but a breakfast burrito. (which was DELICIOUS!). the des moines farmers market is one of the best in the country + has turned into more of an event. the people come by the masses. it’s a social gathering. the local bars open early with bloody mary + mimosa specials. smells of breakfast fill the streets. and live music can be found on every corner. we love it!
but it’s been so hot the days we’ve been able to go. I’m not sure who is worse in the heat, the baby or me. (ahemmm, definitely me!). we’ve found ourselves grabbing breakfast + veering north one block to the nearest city fountain. kids + parents alike are splashing around. can I just put it out there this is a parent-bonus? we were both happy to kick off our shoes + cool off.
summer is in full SWING!
swing dresses + sun hats.
I’m the kind of gal who finds an item of clothing, falls in love, and buys it in ever color. THIS DRESS! it’s a linen-blend swing dress, that I could wear every single day. it’s great for hot days at the farmer’s market, that turn to splashing around in a city fountain. it’s also great for those unpredictable, maybe “I should bring layers” days – just throw a jean jacket over it if it gets chilly! dress it up with a fun necklace + wedges. or down with flip flops + a sun hat.
so, if I had a summer uniform, it’d be this! what’s yours?
