I was the child ordering shirley temples with extra maraschino cherries, or a virgin strawberry daiquiri with extra whipped cream. so, it should be no surprise that I’m the pregnant lady mixing up mocktails. you can only drink SO MUCH WATER!
it is necessary to add a little fun + flavor to your beverage selection. or it is for me. there are two tropical + fruity drink recipes on my pregnancy mocktail list. which means: I keep the “bar” fully stocked. (my refrigerator). I have the ingredients on hand for these two mocktails AT ALL TIMES! you just never know when the “I can’t drink another sip of water” or “transport me to an exotic beach” feeling will hit. first up on my pregnancy mocktail list ..
the treat yourself mocktail margarita.
the bar list includes –
• non-alcoholic margarita mix (I love trader joe’s the most!)
• flavored sparkling water
• fruit juice (I used cranberry, but go with your preference/what you have on hand)
• an assortment of fresh citrus for the garnish
• maraschino cherries
to mix up the treat yourself mocktail margarita – just fill your glass with ice, 2 parts margarita mix, 1 part flavored sparkling water, a splash of fruit juice, and top with your colorful garnish.
BONUS: you can mix yourself up a mocktail margarita whenever you please. morning mocktail margarita? you only live once + don’t let anyone tell you differently: this is to be consumed judgement free. there is no alcohol in this. so, it doesn’t matter where it is or is not 5:00PM.
little lesson: when you have the energy, cut up your fresh citrus + assemble a few mocktail garnishes. more than you need. (I used lemon, lime + a maraschino cherry). place extras in a ziplock bag + into the refrigerator. the next time you want a fun mocktail, but can’t even with cutting fruit (or the dishes you’d create + have to clean) ..you’ll be SO HAPPY to know you have a one waiting for you behind the refrigerator door.
