I have essentially kidnapped my own husband. it is his birthday today, but we’re celebrating all weekend long. you only turn 30 once. I have packed our bags, loaded up the car, and we are off. I am driving us to an unknown (to him) destination. with completely unknown (to him) adventures in store. I am terrible at secrets. so I am very impressed with myself for keeping this large of one.
when I met my husband, he was twenty-one years old. it is so crazy + incredibly wonderful to look back at all of the years we’ve already spent together. and the birthdays we’ve shared, literally. (my birthday was yesterday). the best birthday we’ve shared, thus far, was my 21st + his 23rd. we were in college. both of our parents came to town + all of our friends got together. we rented a booze-filled limo. we started the evening with sake bombs + hibachi. and ended the evening with 21 pitchers of beer. (brace yourself: I’ll be sharing throwback photos on LLbychels’ facebook).
I’ve kept my mouth shut (which is a feat in itself). I’ve schemed + planned. and I am
as ready as I can be to make this birthday one for the books ..
the past seven birthdays have been the best of my life. I am so blessed to share them with such an amazing person. husband, you changed my life for the better the second you walked into it. I know we’ll still be having the time of our lives when we’re sitting side by side, turning 68 + 70.
want to know where we’re spending the husband’s birthday? I will be revealing it tomorrow in my Saturday Morning coffee newsletter. get it delivered to your inbox.
